Our History


Establishment and presence of a dynamic social Service organization to serve the public is among the fundamental requirements of a Society. The state of Jammu and Kashmir, which has a history of having passed through a long period of turmoil, demands such organization which is further confronted with ignorance, illiteracy moral turpitude and pitiful poverty. Iqbal Memorial Trust, having realized the necessity of having a vibrant social service system in place, established Sakhawat Centre, J&K in June 2005 as one of its thread area of activity. The basic objective of this organization is to provide a meaningful help to orphans, widows, destitute and the community at large. In view of ever increasing number of sufferers and the needy and to launch the programme of social service on bigger scale, Sakhawat Centre was registered as an independent social service organization in February, 2013, so that more people are benefited from this organization. From the day of its establishment, Sakhawat Centre has been enjoying the confidence and cooperation of its well-wishers. This organization has carved an identity of its own throughout the length and breadth of the state. It has emerged as a centre of hope for the needy people of the society. It has been providing assistance to widows, orphans and other deprived people of the society in a dignified and decent manner. Sakhawat Centre has been rendering a modest help to under privileged persons and also those displaced from their native places.
